To combat traffic violence and reduce incident rates, the Maldives Police Service is ramping up its presence in the Male' city area. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ali Shujau, announced measures to ensure that an officer is visible every five minutes.

In conjunction with this initiative, the police are also monitoring roads through video surveillance, allowing them to respond promptly to illegal and unsafe behaviors. The Commissioner stressed the importance of adherence to road rules in order to maintain safety for all road users.

This initiative will initially focus on the Male' area, with plans for a nationwide implementation across the Maldives.
