The Ministry of Finance has reported that travel expenses for the year have surpassed the allocated budget by MVR 3 million, reaching a total of MVR 231 million. The budget had initially allocated MVR 228 million for travel, with no additional funds included in the supplementary budget.

According to the Ministry's weekly financial report, MVR 69 million was earmarked for foreign travel, MVR 54 million for air travel, and MVR 45 million for sea travel. This year's travel expenditure marks a 7% increase compared to the same period last year, during which MVR 216 million was spent.

As of now, the State has spent MVR 40 billion from the annual budget. The majority of these expenses, amounting to MVR 28 billion (70% of total expenditure), were allocated for government employee salaries and operational costs.

With the supplementary budget approved last month, the total State budget for the year is projected to reach MVR 55 billion.
