President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has approved the establishment of health centers in six wards of the capital Male' City and across the atolls, aiming to expand access to primary health care and general practitioner services.
The decision, based on a proposal from the Ministry of Health, was finalized during the recent Cabinet meeting. To ensure swift implementation, the President directed the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Social and Family Development to collaborate and complete the initiative before the end of the year.
To expedite the rollout and reduce costs, the President suggested utilizing existing infrastructure to house the new health centers. He emphasized that this approach would significantly shorten waiting times for patients seeking specialist consultations and other medical services, improving the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery.
