Two Maldivian men, aged 41 and 21, have been arrested upon their return from Thailand after being found in possession of 2.4 kg of drugs.
Customs officials reported that their activity appeared suspicious, prompting a search that led to the discovery of drugs concealed in their socks and boxers. Initial testing identified the substances as 32 grams of heroin and 2.1 kg of mephedrone, with an estimated street value of MVR 5.5 million.
The Criminal Court has remanded the two men into custody for 15 days. Customs confirmed that both the suspects and the seized drugs have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
