The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) forecasts gradual improvement in weather conditions over the next 48 hours. However, rain and thunderstorms are expected to persist in northern and central atolls, with wind speeds reaching up to 35 miles per hour in these areas.

The southern islands are likely to see better weather, though scattered squalls remain a possibility. Wave heights are expected to range between 4 to 6 feet, leading to moderately rough seas. As a precaution, a White Alert has been issued for regions spanning from Lhaviyani Atoll to Laamu Atoll.

Over the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Malé and Hulhulé. According to MET Office data, Hulhulé received 144mm of rain, while Malé recorded 142.6mm, and Hulhumalé saw 122mm.

In response to severe flooding in Malé caused by heavy rain, the Maldivian National Defence Force (MNDF) cleared a total of 30,569 tonnes of water from the city streets. Recovery efforts are ongoing, with authorities urging caution as weather conditions gradually stabilize.
