Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu announced today that the new school under construction in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 by Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) is on track to be completed this year. The school, which will accommodate 1,400 students, is expected to open in January 2026, addressing the growing demand for educational facilities in the area.

Responding to concerns raised by Mihaaru News about space constraints in Hulhumale’ schools, Minister Shafeeu assured that applications submitted this year can be managed with existing facilities. Schools like Kaamil Didi Primary School, Salahuddin School, and those in Hulhumale’ Phase 1 will handle the current load.

However, the minister highlighted that the demand for school placements in Hulhumale’ will continue to rise next year due to population growth and the completion of housing projects. Plans are underway to add 18–20 classrooms in Hulhumale’ Phase 1, though it has yet to be decided whether these classrooms will expand an existing school or form part of a new one.

To further address the rising demand, two new schools are planned—one in Hulhumale’ Phase 1 and another in Phase 2. These schools aim to serve families moving into newly constructed flats, including the POLCO, SIFCO, and Rainbow flats in Phase 1.
