The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced an extension for registering imported four-wheeled vehicles that missed the legally required registration timeframe, which expired at the end of last year. Vehicle owners now have an additional six days to complete the registration process, with the new deadline set for this coming Wednesday.
In an official statement, the ministry clarified that registration applications must be submitted via the official portal, 'eportal.mta.gov.mv,' along with all required documents.
As per the Road Vehicle Registration Regulation, motor vehicles can only be registered if they meet the stipulated timeframe from their year of manufacture. The regulation specifies varying periods for different types of vehicles, with a maximum allowable age of 15 years.
