A 55-year-old Argentinian tourist tragically passed away after being struck by a speedboat while swimming near a resort in Alifu Dhaalu atoll earlier today.

According to police reports, the speedboat involved in the accident belonged to Icom Green, and the incident was reported around 10 a.m. Videos circulating on social media reveal the severity of the victim’s injuries, showing parts of his arm and face severed in the collision.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.

This fatal accident echoes a similar tragedy in the same atoll last year, when another foreigner lost their life after being hit by a speedboat while swimming near an island.

The incident highlights growing concerns over the safety of swimmers and tourists in areas frequented by watercraft, raising calls for stricter regulations and preventive measures to avoid such accidents in the future.
