The government of Maldives has clarified that no social media platforms will be blocked in the country.

Addressing rumors about potential bans on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed dismissed the claims as baseless. "The government has not decided to block any social media platform. It has not discussed such a move," Heena stated.

She further emphasized that no discussions have taken place regarding the blocking of any social media platforms.

Heena also reaffirmed President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's commitment to safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms to the fullest extent permitted by the Constitution.
