The Ministry of Finance and Planning has announced a call for interested parties to construct 12,000 housing units across 57 islands in the Maldives. Both local and foreign companies can apply to undertake the project under contractor financing.
The housing project is categorized into four groups based on the number of units per island:
The smallest allocation, with 30 housing units, is planned for Dhigurah in Alif Dhaalu Atoll, while the largest, with 2,000 units, will be developed in Kulhudhuffushi, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
This initiative is part of the government's broader plan to initiate work on 27,000 housing units this year, including 15,000 units in the Malé area and 12,000 across the atolls.
