STELCO has signed an agreement with the Military Welfare Company (SIWEC) to provide specialized training for its employees in various areas, including first aid, fire safety, and security.
The agreement was signed by STELCO’s Managing Director, Hussein Fahmy, and SIWEC’s Managing Director, Colonel Ahmed Zubair. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Fahmy highlighted how STELCO employees have played crucial roles in emergency situations, including rescuing individuals from the sea and preventing unauthorized access to company buildings.
"We examined whether these employees had completed training programs and what impact that had on their confidence and ability to take action," Fahmy said. "We found that all those who stepped up had received leadership training from MNDF personnel. This program benefits not just our workplace but also serves the nation and supports personal development."
Hussain Farhad, General Manager of STELCO’s Human Resources and Training Department, reiterated the company’s commitment to building a team driven by sincerity, loyalty, hard work, courage, and unity. "Our aim is to establish a strong workforce capable of achieving STELCO’s vision, mission, and strategic goals," he said.
Currently, 668 STELCO employees have completed the Leadership Enhancement Program conducted in collaboration with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). Under the new agreement, STELCO aims to ensure all employees complete the program by the end of this year.
Additionally, STELCO announced that the agreement includes support for fire evacuation drills and technical assistance in maintaining fire prevention systems at its powerhouses.
