Commissioner of Police, Ali Shujau, has confirmed that a travel ban has been placed on a group of individuals linked to a recent incident where a woman was discovered on a rooftop last Friday. These individuals were reportedly in her company on Thursday night, prior to her arrival at the residence where the event unfolded.

Authorities have since secured court-issued warrants to search the premises the group visited that night. As part of the investigation, law enforcement is also working to trace the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

In response to public concerns and accusations of bias—particularly suggestions of a cover-up due to political affiliations—Commissioner Shujau emphasized the police’s commitment to a transparent and impartial inquiry. He assured the public that no one will receive preferential treatment.

The police were first alerted to the incident around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, when they received reports of a woman found on the rooftop of a building. She was transported to a hospital approximately 30 minutes later. Initially, identifying her proved difficult as she had no prior police records, but once her identity was confirmed, her family was notified.

Investigators determined that the building involved was H. Fentoniya, and surveillance footage from the location showed the woman with a 21-year-old man, Raud Ahmed Zilal, on the building’s stairwell. Although Zilal has not been taken into custody, his phone has been confiscated and he has also been prohibited from leaving the country.

Forensic specialists have examined both the window frame—through which the woman may have fallen—and the aluminum stairwell railing. These inspections aim to determine if foul play was involved. Additionally, the police addressed public speculation regarding the possibility of the woman falling through a high fanlight, saying that reenactments will be carried out to test that scenario.

Later review of surveillance footage revealed the woman and Zilal entering H. Maandhooge Dhekunubai around midnight, accompanied by seven other young individuals. All of them have now been identified and their statements recorded.

Commissioner Shujau concluded by stating that police efforts will continue to focus on reconstructing the group's activities leading up to the incident and determining any connections they may have to what transpired.
