Following growing public outrage surrounding the case of a 21-year-old woman who fell from the ninth floor of a building in Malé, the President’s Office has taken disciplinary action against two senior officials. Izdhiyan Mohamed Maumoon, who served as Under Secretary for Strategic Communication, has been removed from his role. Meanwhile, Daudh Ahmed Zilal, the Under Secretary for Digital Strategy, has been suspended without pay.

President’s Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed shared the update on the social media platform X. She also noted that Zilal, who chaired the Maldivian Youth Advisory Committee, has stepped down from that position, and his suspension took immediate effect.
