The Criminal Court has extended Raudh Ahmed Zilal’s detention by an additional ten days as part of an ongoing investigation. Raudh was initially arrested on April 24, six days after an incident involving Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who was discovered on April 18 having fallen onto the roof of a warehouse at H. Mitaaz. Authorities believe she fell through a fanlight from the ninth-floor stairwell of a neighboring building, H. Fentenoy.
At the time of arrest, Raudh was remanded for five days, which has now expired, prompting the court to prolong his custody. The arrest was made on suspicion of Raudh’s possible involvement in Yumnu’s fall, alleged intoxication during the incident, and suspected sexual misconduct. Despite these suspicions noted in the arrest order, police had previously stated that no other individual was involved in Yumnu's fall.
Law enforcement has also identified seven others who were reportedly with Yumnu earlier that evening. Their mobile devices were confiscated, and travel restrictions have been imposed on them. When asked to submit urine samples following the incident, only Raudh complied; the others refused.
Among those present that night were two nephews of the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen. The group had gathered at Ameen’s residence, Maandhooge Dhekunuge, but investigators were unable to retrieve any CCTV footage from the location. Police have yet to release detailed findings from their investigation.
