The average length of stay for tourists visiting the Maldives has declined by 12% this year, according to the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). From January to May, tourists spent an average of 6.8 days in the country, compared to 7.7 days during the same period last year.

Data over the past five years reveals a steady decline in average stays, with a peak of 8.8 days recorded in 2021—largely attributed to quarantine requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bednights have also slightly decreased, down by 1% from last year, with a total of 5.9 million bednights recorded so far in 2025. The Maldives currently offers 62,000 beds across various types of tourist accommodation.

As of now, the country has welcomed 1.1 million tourists this year. China remains the top source market, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom. A significant 72% of visitors continue to choose resorts as their preferred accommodation.
