Police have rescued a Bangladeshi national who was reportedly held hostage in a residence in Malé early this morning.
Authorities received a report around 6:00 a.m. about someone being unlawfully confined in a home in the capital. Officers responded to the call, forced entry into the property, and successfully freed the individual.
The rescued man was immediately taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital for a medical check-up. According to police, he showed no visible injuries.
While confirming that an investigation is ongoing, police have so far not released any additional details regarding the circumstances or possible suspects.
