Maldives National Party (MNP) to hold their inaugural congress

As the Elections Commission gives permission to form MNP as a political party after submitting over 5,000 membership registration forms Maldives National Party (MNP) has announced to hold their inaugural congress.


Speaking at a press conference held Tuesday, one of MNP's founders, Thimarafushi MP Abdulla Riyaz said the inaugural congress has been scheduled for October 8. The event will be held at Ghiyasuddin International School's Hall.


Riyaz said the first session of the congress will be held from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The second session will begin at 9:00 pm. The party's name, logo, flag, color as well as the party's charters will be finalized at the congress. Members will also be appointed to the party's interim executive council. Appointments will be made for the posts of party President, six Deputy Presidents, Women's Wing Leader, Youth Wing Leader and 21 council members. One Vice President slot and seven council seats have been designated for women.


Submissions are now open to apply for interim executive committee membership. Forms may be submitted to the party via email, Viber or physically to the party's office. The deadline for submissions is 2:00 pm on October 3.
