Nilandhoo and Bilehdhoo harbors will be developed by MTCC.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and  Infrastructure to create harbours in Nilandhoo and Bilehdhoo in Faafu Atoll.


The agreements were signed by Adam Azim, CEO of MTCC, and Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, Permanent Secretary of the Planning Ministry. According to the agreements, MTCC is responsible for creating the Nilandhoo harbour in 510 days at a cost of USD4 million and the Bilehdhoo harbour in 450 days at a cost of USD4.7 million.


The northeastern side of the island will have a 194-meter sand-filled breakwater, a 131-meter revetment, and a 130-meter  channel footing built as part of the development of the Nilandhoo harbor. A 100-meter concrete jetty, a 237-meter concrete  quay wall, a concrete ramp, and a 75-meter revetment to protect the shore are all part of the project. The development of the Bilehdhoo harbor also include the construction of a 440-meter-long revetment, a 224-meter-long revetment, and a 133-meter-long concrete jetty. Additionally, a 21-meter stretch of the canal will be reprofiled, and a 95-meter wide  boatyard, an 84-meter breakwater, and a 225-meter revetment will be built. The project also calls for the building of a 5 m wide  pavement, channel dredging operations, the installation of harbor lights, a 44 m breakwater, and a 250 m revetment to safeguard the beach.
