Two Maldivian intern doctors at Chittagong Medical College were reportedly beaten while on duty, an incident that occurred in the presence of several senior members of the hospital staff. Shockingly, despite the assault, the interns were not permitted to leave their posts until they completed their assigned duties.

According to reports, the interns sought refuge in a storage room for a period, indicating the severity of the situation they faced. This incident has not only raised alarms about the safety of foreign medical students but also highlighted the challenges Maldivian interns encounter in their pursuit of medical training.

Many Maldivian medical students choose Chittagong Medical College for their internships due to the shorter duration and convenience it offers. However, this alarming event has sparked significant concern within the student community regarding the safety and treatment of interns at the institution.

As it continues, there is a growing call for better protective measures and support systems to ensure the well-being of intern doctors working in challenging environments.
