The Maldives has submitted a comprehensive proposal to implement the PayPal payment system. In an interview with Public Service Media (PSM), Minister of Economic Development Saeed reaffirmed this initiative, emphasizing its potential to enhance the engagement of small and medium-sized enterprises with global markets.

Minister Saeed highlighted that the introduction of PayPal would significantly benefit many young entrepreneurs, particularly those conducting business through social media platforms. He expressed optimism that the approval process would be expedited, allowing for swift progress and growth in the local business landscape.

The work to implement PayPal began during January 2024 and was headed by Minister Mohamed Saeed.
