President Dr. Muizzu met with members of the Bodukanneli Masveringe Union (BKMU), where he assured them that significant changes would transpire following the full implementation of his manifesto. The BKMU representatives expressed their gratitude to the President for rejecting government proposals that would have allowed long line fisheries, a decision that could have adversely impacted their industry.
During the discussions, the members of BKMU also advocated for an increase in the floor price for their catch. In response, President Muizzu assured the attendees that once the manifesto is completely executed, there would be productive and beneficial changes that would positively affect the fishing community.
The meeting highlighted a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for local fisheries and addressing the economic challenges faced by those in the industry.
