Azerbaijan Airlines is set to commence flights to the Maldives starting in November 2024. The airline has scheduled two weekly flights from its capital, Baku, to Velana International Airport, beginning on November 8, 2024. Azerbaijan Airlines will be using Boeing 787 aircrafts during the 6 hours journey. 

With over 1.2 million tourist arrivals recorded as of September 2, the tourism outlook remains positive, especially with the addition of direct flights from Azerbaijan. This marks the first time that a direct flight will operate between the two nations. 

Currently, there are 42 airlines servicing the Maldives from various destinations worldwide.
