Maldives Retains Title of South Asia’s Strongest Passport for Fifth Consecutive Year

For the fifth consecutive year, the Maldives has secured its position as the holder of the most powerful passport in South Asia, according to the latest Henley Passport Rankings.


The Maldivian passport ranks 53rd globally, enabling its holders to travel visa-free to 94 countries. This achievement highlights the country's continued prominence in global mobility.


The closest South Asian contender, India, ranks significantly lower at 85th globally, with its passport allowing visa-free access to 57 countries.


On the global stage, Singapore retains the title of the world’s strongest passport, granting visa-free travel to an impressive 195 destinations. Japan, which previously held the top position, now ranks second.


This accomplishment reinforces the Maldives’ commitment to fostering strong international relations and enhancing travel opportunities for its citizens.
