Speedboat Capsizes Near Milandhoo; All Passengers Rescued

A speedboat carrying 15 people from R. Ungoofaaru to Sh. Milandhoo capsized yesterday near Milandhoo and Maakandoodhoo around 5:30 PM local time.


According to Ungoofaaru Council President Abdulla Rasheed, the vessel had four women and four children among its passengers. Milandhoo Council President reported that a part of the boat broke apart, leading to its sinking.


The speedboat was operated by a man from Milandhoo who is married to a woman from Ungoofaaru. They were traveling with the woman's relatives for a weekend visit when the accident occurred.


Fortunately, all passengers were rescued. However, some were taken to Milandhoo Health Centre for psychological care. Rasheed noted that women and children were particularly affected by the incident but reassured that everyone is now in good condition.
