President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has merged the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy with the Ministry of Tourism, forming a new entity now called the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
Thoriq Ibrahim, who previously served as the Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, has been appointed as the Minister of the newly combined ministry. President Muizzu presented his letter of appointment in a ceremony held at the President’s Office today.
The restructuring follows the dismissal of Ibrahim Faisal as Minister of Tourism on January 28. The government has not yet disclosed the reasons behind his removal.
With this merger, the total number of ministries in the current administration has been reduced to 19.
