The Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom) has initiated a survey to assess public engagement with television channels and radio stations. This effort aims to enhance the broadcasting sector by leveraging modern technology.
According to BroadCom, the collected data will play a vital role in improving content quality and shaping future broadcasting policies. The commission has also urged relevant authorities to provide this information regularly.
BroadCom President Sofa Shafeeq emphasized the significance of viewer engagement data, noting that broadcasters frequently request such insights. "With this information, channels will be able to create and develop content based on viewer engagement. Programs will be shaped according to the needs of viewers. This is now available in new media," she stated.
Additionally, the Broadcasting and Re-Broadcasting Regulations focus on promoting local content while ensuring access to international programs. BroadCom believes that maintaining comprehensive records of viewer engagement will enable broadcasters to refine and expand their content offerings.
