Yesterday, Parliament voted in favor of Thoriq Ibrahim's appointment as Minister of Tourism and Environment.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had merged the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy with the Ministry of Tourism, creating the new Ministry of Tourism and Environment. Following this, he appointed then-Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim to lead the newly formed ministry.

In the parliamentary vote, all MPs who participated unanimously supported Thoriq’s appointment.

With this merger, the administration now has a total of 20 ministries.
