The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned the import and sale of the Master Foods brand creamy chicken and mushroom cooking sauce.
A statement issued last night explained that the sauce, produced by Mars Australia Pvt Ltd, contains eggs but does not provide allergen information on its label. As a result, the manufacturer has initiated a recall of the affected batches from the market.
The World Health Organization (WHO) informed the MFDA via the International Food Safety Authorities Network that the product had entered the Maldives. The lack of allergen details on the label presents a potential health risk for consumers.
To mitigate health risks, the MFDA has ordered a halt to the import and sale of the sauce in the country.
