MTCC has secured a contract to construct a new immigration office in Uligan, located in the Haa Alifu Atoll, to enhance immigration services in the region.

The contract was formally signed today by MTCC’s Managing Director, Ahmed Saudhee, and the Immigration Controller, Ahmed Faseeh.

Currently, Uligan offers immigration services in a small space within an MNDF building, primarily catering to seaport services. The new facility will expand these services, enabling Uligan to handle additional functions such as passport and visa processing, as well as immigration clearance for both passengers and foreign vessel crews.

Uligan serves as a vital stop for foreign yachts traveling from countries like Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, and Thailand across the Red Sea to Europe, with approximately 100-150 yachts docking there annually.

With the establishment of the new immigration office, services for these yachts will be greatly improved, especially in light of the recent launch of an international bunkering service in Ihavandhipolhu.
