President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have returned to Malé on Wednesday evening following the conclusion of their state visit to Singapore, undertaken at the invitation of Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

During the visit, President Muizzu held high-level talks with President Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, with discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation. The leaders signed multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) spanning areas such as education, environmental initiatives, capacity building, and partnerships through the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.

In addition to government-level agreements, two significant deals were finalized in the private sector. The Maldives entered into an agreement with Henley & Partners for a Residence by Investment programme, and another with APM SPV Private Limited to advance the Project Solar City initiative.

The visit also coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Singapore. To mark the occasion, President Muizzu presented a commemorative book to President Shanmugaratnam, and the two jointly unveiled a set of special stamps celebrating the diplomatic milestone.

At the Maldives-Singapore Business Forum held during the visit, President Muizzu acknowledged the contributions of individuals and businesses that have played a role in strengthening trade ties between the two nations. The forum also served as a platform to promote the Maldives’ Vision 2040 and highlight potential investment opportunities.

Beyond official meetings and business events, the President and First Lady engaged with the Maldivian community in Singapore, hosting a dinner in their honor. They also visited several key institutions, including the Institute of Technical Education, Urban Redevelopment Authority, Tuas Port, the Peranakan Museum, and the Singapore Food Agency.

Summing up the visit in a post on social platform X, President Muizzu described the trip as a turning point that signals the beginning of a new era in Maldives–Singapore diplomatic relations.
