The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has revealed important leadership shifts at two prominent state-owned companies— Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Road Development Corporation (RDC).
Ali Zuhair, who was previously the Managing Director of RDC, has taken on the role of new Managing Director at HDC. His appointment comes after the resignation of the previous HDC MD, Mohamed Mauroof, yesterday.
Mauroof, a past Minister of Construction, was set to retire on August 18, with internal notices about his exit distributed to employees earlier this month. PCB confirmed that Mauroof stepped down at their request.
Ibrahim Nazeem, who presently holds the position of State Minister of Construction, will take over for Zuhair at RDC. Nazeem possesses extensive experience in the housing and infrastructure field, having served as the Deputy Minister of Housing in the past. He additionally held the position of Managing Director at the Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC), supervising essential infrastructure and road maintenance initiatives.
Ali Zuhair, a former Brigadier General of the Maldives National Defence Force, was assigned to RDC in November 2023. His transition to HDC signifies an important shift, as the company maintains its role in managing extensive urban development and housing initiatives throughout the Maldives.
