The main opposition party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), organized the ‘Run Reendhoo’ event to celebrate its 20th anniversary, attracting around 300 participants. The event started at 17:00 yesterday evening and took place at Central Park in Hulhumale’, along the adjacent road.
The area was secured by the Maldives Police Service throughout the event. Key party officials such as MDP’s chair Fayyaz Ismail and parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Nazil attended the event, which was honored by the presence of former president Ibrahim Solih and former vice president Faisal Naseem.
During the event lasting approximately 50 minutes, Nazil stated that MDP had stayed strong over the last 20 years because of the commitment and hard work of its general members. He conveyed optimism that the party will stay robust moving forward, noting that he thinks additional advancement can be realized through the ongoing dedication of its general members.
Fayyaz, who also addressed the gathering, confirmed that initiatives would be undertaken to secure victory in the forthcoming local council elections and other contests to bolster the MDP’s image. Encouraging political engagement in today's youth is highly essential. "This is due to the fact that individuals' rights can be safeguarded and maintained in a competitive political framework,” he stated.
