The government of Sri Lanka has declared that it will provide one-year medical visas and spouse visas to Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka, starting from August 1st.
Previously, Maldivians received medical visas valid for 3 to 4 months. Ambassador Masood Imad stated that the alteration followed persistent endeavors by the Maldivian Embassy in Colombo.
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced this during his recent trip to the Maldives. The one-year spouse visa is available for Maldivians residing in the country for work or study who are married to Sri Lankan nationals.
Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed gratitude to the Sri Lankan government for their choice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged applicants to make sure that all necessary documents, particularly security clearance forms, are accurately submitted. Insufficient or faulty records might result in visa cancellation.
Last month, Sri Lanka implemented a 90-day visa on arrival for Maldivians. Furthermore, Maldives was formally taken off the list of nations considered a security risk, which was created following the 2019 attacks in Sri Lanka.
