VIA taxiway’s first phase successfully finished

The initial stage of the Taxiway Charlie redevelopment initiative at Velana International Airport (VIA) has been finished and formally transferred to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).


In a statement issued yesterday, MACL announced the achievement, representing notable advancement in the airport's continuous infrastructure modernization initiatives.


The handover ceremony saw the presence of MACL Chairperson Aisha Noorain Janah, members from the MACL Board and Executive Committee, Zhang Fenglin from BUCG International— the project's contractor— Fathimath Ramiza, Director of the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, and Ibrahim Thoha, Managing Director of the Maldives National Air Traffic Services (MNATS).


During the ceremony, MACL highlighted the advancement of Taxiway Charlie as a significant progress in improving airport capacity and efficiency, mentioning that the renovated infrastructure will aid all airlines functioning at VIA.



MACL Chairperson Noorain Janah thanked BUCG International for being a "valuable and trusted partner" in VIA's transformation.
