The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed intentions to introduce three dredgers to speed up land reclamation initiatives in the Malé region.

HDC reports that land reclamation is ongoing in Hulhumalé Phase 3, Gulhifalhu, Giravarufalhu, and Uthuru Thilafalhu to tackle the housing shortage, a significant promise made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during his campaign.

To expedite the process, two 45,000-ton hopper dredgers and one 11,000-ton hopper dredger will be deployed in October this year.

HDC mentioned that it collaborates with key stakeholders to foresee and address possible obstacles to guarantee uninterrupted progress.
