The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has affirmed consistent advancement on the Boduthakurufaanu Magu north-side road construction project, according to Managing Director, DCP (Retd.) Ahmed Saudhee, overseeing work at the Segment 1 location yesterday.

MTCC reports that concurrent sheet piling and quay wall demolition work is on track, signaling an important stage in the project. Upon completion, the project is anticipated to greatly change urban transportation in Malé by expanding essential road networks and incorporating contemporary infrastructure.

The initiative aims to alleviate persistent traffic congestion in the capital by creating wider, pedestrian-friendly streets. A specialized stormwater drainage system is being implemented to alleviate flooding during intense rainfall—an increasingly common issue in Malé. MTCC indicated that these characteristics will guarantee safer, more adaptable, and climate-resilient infrastructure for road users.
