This morning, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu engaged in high-level discussions with His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, at the Tianjin Yingbin Hotel, reinforcing the strong relationship between the two countries.
President Xi greeted President Muizzu warmly and commended the importance of his visit, calling it a crucial move in strengthening the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between the Maldives and China. He emphasized China's steadfast dedication to assisting the Maldives in its developmental path.
President Muizzu highlighted the privilege of his second official visit to China, expressing appreciation for the invitation and warm welcome. He emphasized his administration's commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, which have become fundamental to the Maldives' foreign relations and economic development.
The leaders participated in extensive discussions addressing economic growth, trade and investment, security collaboration, and exchanges among people. President Xi pledged that China would offer extensive assistance for the Maldives’ development priorities and highlighted the significance of a partnership focused on results.
Both leaders consented to elevate Maldives–China relations through the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (2024–2028), reaffirming their mutual vision for prosperity and stability.
The meeting ended with a unified pledge to enhance collaboration, build mutual trust, and promote the shared interests of the two countries.
