A person facing mental health challenges has assaulted their father with a knife.

Authorities reported that at 10:30 pm on Saturday, a 26-year-old Maldivian man suffering from mental health problems assaulted his 60-year-old father with a sharp weapon.

The event took place in AA. Ukulhas.

The individual has been treated abroad for his mental challenges, and requires regular injection. However, the man in question has always been adamant about receiving his doses which has led to going past the due date for the intended shot.

This has led to the young man being placed in the care of Ukulhas Health Centre. 

The hurt man is getting care at the AA. The Police confirmed that the injuries were not life-threatening at Ukulhas Health Centre.

Individuals near the event stated that the father sustained injuries to his abdomen and arm.

Police reported that the 26-year-old is currently in police custody.
