First Lady Sajidha Mohamed on Monday urged the focus on women’s health research and early treatment of women's health issues.
The First Lady issued the appeal during the closing ceremony of the third session of a workshop series organized by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Maldives.
Sajidha stated that it is essential for professionals to be informed about the opportunities in endometriosis treatment, diagnostic methods, and current research, rather than being optional.
Endometriosis is a condition that impacts women. The illness leads to stomach discomfort and issues with fertility. The ectopic development of uterine tissue is the most hazardous complication of this disease. The disease lacks a permanent cure, and at times, surgery is necessary to alleviate complications.
Emphasizing the physical and mental challenges of the illness, she underscored the significance of prompt diagnosis and empathetic care.
Moreover, Sajidha emphasized that incorporating treatment for endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome in Aasandha represents a significant move toward the aim of ensuring equitable health care.
