Nasheed plans to win the 2023 elections

Former President Mohamed Nasheed, head of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and speaker of parliament announced that he intends to run for president in the 2023 elections.


Sunday afternoon, Nasheed held a virtual press conference, saying, "I'm going to run in the party primary and I'm 100% confident that I'm going to win."


"I will not be vanquished in the name of Allah." "I run for election in order to win," he said.


Nasheed made it clear to the audience that no candidate will be nominated for the MDP ticket without contesting in the MDP primary elections. Without the MDP ticket, it's illegal.
