Hussain Fahmy, recently ousted from his role as Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), has been given a high-ranking position in the President’s Office.

Fahmy had been with STELCO for over 27 years and became Managing Director in November 2023. His termination was affirmed yesterday, after which former Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) chief Ahmed Shamah Rasheed was designated to head STELCO.

The President’s Office site indicates there are 11 individuals holding ministerial positions currently employed by the office.

His exit from STELCO occurred amid rumors, yet no official explanation has been provided for his termination.
