A Maldivian man who sustained burns from an explosion that took place in Germany on September 8 has died from his injuries.
Fayyaz Daud, 36, of B. Thulhaadhoo, died while being treated in Germany for injuries from the explosion.
Daud wed a German citizen around five years back. The couple initially resided in the Maldives and relocated to Germany in December of last year due to his father-in-law falling ill.
Mihaaru News reported that a close associate of Daud stating that the blast occurred when sparks from a steel tank cutting ignited a nearby chemical container, causing a fire that critically injured Daud.
It was stated that Daud had been by himself during the incident.
Daud sustained severe burns on his arms, legs, and face. Initially, he was put on life support, but subsequently showed progress, the friend mentioned.
Enduring intense pain, Daud was put on ventilator assistance once more, the friend mentioned, adding they had learned of Daud's passing this afternoon.
After the incident, a few of Daud's relatives attempted to go to Germany but were first unable to secure visas from the Maldives embassy. The friend reported that during a subsequent try, they were told the visas would be granted within this week.
"If the government had provided help, at least one family member could have gone there, right?" I actually visited and asked, detailing what occurred. "Even at that point, they remarked there was no possibility," the friend stated.
Daud departs, leaving a young son and his wife. His family was scheduled to travel to the Maldives in December of this year.
