Air India has introduced daily direct flights linking Mumbai and Delhi to Malé, greatly enhancing travel ease for Indian tourists and business travelers traveling to the Maldives.
The newly established routes enhance air links between India and the Maldives, a location that has been a long-time favorite of Indian tourists for its turquoise waters, coral reefs, and upscale resorts. By removing layovers, the services decrease travel duration and offer travelers smooth entry to the Indian Ocean country.
Flight AI 2273 leaves Delhi at 10:15 AM and arrives in Malé at 1:50 PM following a four-hour flight. The return flight, AI 2274, leaves Malé at 2:50 PM and arrives in Delhi at 7:25 PM. In the meantime, travelers departing from Mumbai can take Flight AI 2271 at 9:30 AM, reaching Malé at 11:50 AM. The return flight, AI 2272, departs Malé at 12:50 PM and arrives in Mumbai at 4:05 PM, featuring a travel duration of slightly more than three hours.
The growth occurs as the Maldives experiences an increase in visitors from India. In recent years, India has consistently been the leading source market for the Maldives, fueled by its close distance and high demand for luxury vacation experiences. The upcoming services are anticipated to enhance this trend, providing Indian tourists with increased flexibility for both quick trips and longer visits.
In addition to leisure travel, the improved connectivity also creates pathways for business interactions and trade possibilities. As investments in tourism, hospitality, and infrastructure increase, both countries are poised to gain from improved travel connections.
Air India’s choice highlights the increasing strategic and commercial significance of the Maldives in South Asia’s travel corridor, enabling the airline to seize the rising demand in one of the region’s most competitive aviation sectors.
