Authorities are looking into a case reported from Hulhudhoo, Addu City, regarding the supposed poisoning of birds and fish at the nearby Duck Park.
The issue gained public notice when images of deceased ducks and fish in the park’s stream started spreading on Facebook earlier today.
A Facebook post shared this morning alleged that some people had intentionally poisoned and killed the animals residing in the park’s waters.
The post labeled the action as “uncivilized,” voicing disappointment that while certain residents strive to enhance the island’s environment, others are counteracting these initiatives.
Local sources indicate that the animals are said to have started dying two days ago.
The event has been officially documented with the Maldives Police Service.
While the community anticipates the result of the investigation, island residents have been actively working to clean and rehabilitate the park region.
