Discussions on the government's strategy for Shaviyani atoll's development

As part of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's continuous visit of the atoll, discussions have taken place about the current administration's development strategy for Shaviyani atoll, as well as the concerns of atoll residents.


When he arrived on Tuesday afternoon in the Shaviyani atoll's Funadhoo island, The President first met with the North Miladhunmadulu Atoll Council, where he was briefed on the significant issues that need to be resolved.


There are a number of issues that have been brought up by the residents of the atoll include the use of uninhabited islands in the atoll, the progress of the resort development projects in Shaviyani Atoll and the installation of adequate transportation infrastructure.


The atoll councillors reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to provide full support for the Solih administration's development plans for the atoll in the future.


After listening to these concerns, The President confirmed that he will be holding meetings with the relevant authorities and agencies to find quick solutions.


It was also interesting to hear about what Solih had to say about the ongoing and future development initiatives that will have an influence on the atolls.


In addition to that, Solih said that the government has completed the bid collection procedure for the Bilehfahi Island Airport project, and following that Solih announced plans to create a minor hospital on Milandhoo island and to allow travel at Funadhoo Island Airport after dark.


On his visit, Solih also met with the Women's Development Committee of Sh. Funadhoo before visiting the island hospital. On the heels of this meeting, members of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) met (MDP).


In addition to that, First Lady Fazna toured the Family and Children's Services Centre (FCSC) run by the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services. There, she spoke with workers and asked them about their concerns with regards to running the facility.


 Nationally, the Gender Ministry supervises these institutions; the one on Funadoo Island now has 14 children living in it." For children needing safety and protection, the organization seeks to create a safe atmosphere.


Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., the First Couple left on their two-atoll tour. In addition to the four islands of Shaviyani atoll, including Funadhoo, Lhaimagu, Foakaidhoo, and Maaungoodheem; the First Couple will also visit four islands of Raa atoll, which include Vaadoo, Alifushi, Rasgetheem and Angolhitheem.


The First Couple will be accompanied by senior government officials, including Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail and the Managing Director of state utility company FENAKA Corporation.


Following that, they'll head to Lhaimagu, and then Foakaidhoo the following day. The First Couple will travel to Maaungoodhoo, Vaadhoo, and Alifushi on Wednesday.


Angolhitheem and Rasgetheem will also be visited on Thursday. The First Couple is set to return on Thursday at the end of their tour.


President's Spokesperson Mabrook Aziz told RaajjeMV that the three-day visit was to check on the status of the development projects underway on the islands, as well as to meet with the island councils. A meeting with the president has been requested by members of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), which would be accommodated during the visit Along with interacting with persons from several industries, including agriculture, fisheries and others during his trip.


At the end of the journey, the president will officially inaugurate the Raa Atoll Job Center on Alifushi Island.


 


President Solih had made a similar trip to the Thaa atoll in August, visiting seven of the atoll's islands.
