Charges raised against three additional suspects of May 6 Terror Attack

Prosecutor General presses charges against three additional suspects arrested in connection to the assassination attempt of Former President Mohamed Nasheed.


The Prosecutor General's Office earlier raised charges against four suspects: Adhuham Ahmed, Mujaz Ahmed, Thahmeen Ahmed and Ali Haisham. The Prosecutor General's Office has now forwarded charges against three additional suspects, Fahmy Ali, Mohamed Nazim and Ishaq to the Criminal Court


Ishaaq is being persecuted for transporting explosives from one area to another, planning to carry out a terrorist activity, and participating in a terrorist activity. If the first two charges are proven in court, Ishaaq will receive a jail sentence of 12-15 years each. If he had participated in a terrorist activity, he would receive a 17-20 year jail sentence.


Fahumy is being persecuted for participating in a terrorist activity, while Nazim is being persecuted for planning a terrorist attack.
