K. Maafushi, one of the most extensively developed islands for local tourism in the Maldives, has officially launched "Heart of Maldives" as its dedicated tourism brand.

The new brand incorporates various elements of the island's tourism industry. The island's Local Authority Company, which manages the brand, stated that it will be made available for use by stakeholders within the guesthouse industry.

The brand was officially launched by the former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, during a ceremony held in Maafushi last night. Speaking at the event, President Nasheed noted that the expansion of this industry has significantly boosted the island's economy. He emphasized that gathering economic data is essential to sustaining this growth.

The President of the Maafushi Council, Hassan Salah, stated that the brand was designed to showcase the diverse aspects of Maafushi's tourism sector. He remarked that if the flourishing local tourism industry in the Maldives were personified, Maafushi would undoubtedly be its "heart."

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Abdulla Nasheed, a leading guesthouse businessman and President of the Guesthouse Association, as well as Ahmed Naseer, the former Governor of MMA, who opened the very first guesthouse on the island.
