Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has urged residents traveling out of Male' or away from their islands for the school holidays to ensure the security and safety of their households.

Mayor Azim advised those leaving for vacation to double-check that all doors are properly locked before departing. He specifically highlighted the importance of securing skylights, air vents, windows, and balcony doors. He also recommended making arrangements for someone to check on the house at least once a day.

"It is important to entrust a responsible person to ensure the house is lit at night and remains monitored," Mayor Azim stated.

In addition to the Mayor, relevant authorities have also highlighted the importance of home safety. Key precautions to keep in mind include:

  • Locking Doors: Ensure all main doors and windows are securely locked before leaving the house.

  • Electrical Appliances: Turn off and unplug all electrical appliances that are not in use.

  • Supervision: Ask a trusted neighbor or relative to keep an eye on the property.

Taking these steps is vital to preventing thefts and fire incidents. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
