MTCC Secures Landmark USD 104 Million Infrastructure Portfolio Across 14 Maldives Islands

In a significant move to elevate island infrastructure, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has entrusted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) with 14 development projects spanning 14 islands, totalling a combined investment of USD 104 million.

The ambitious contracts encompass land reclamation, coastal fortification, state-of-the-art roadways, and vital harbour enhancements.

Dredging and beach protection initiatives will benefit islands across Haa Alifu, Noonu, Dhaalu, and Gaafu Alifu Atolls—including Vashafaru, Hen’badhoo, Holhudhoo, Maalhendhoo, Bandidhoo, Kanduhulhudhoo, and the Alifushi Industrial Zone in Raa Atoll — with further shoreline fortification planned for Gaafaru, Maafaru, and Filladhoo.

Notable undertakings also include the transformation of Ungoofaaru harbour in Raa Atoll, the creation of a pristine artificial beach in Ihavandhoo, the next phase of modern road development in Fares Mathoda (Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll), and vital harbour upgrades in Muraidhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll.
