Guitarist Ahmed Shaheed (Shahyd), recognized as Shahyd Legacy, has declared his exit from the band 2ofus, citing issues with financial transparency, professional respect, and creative alignment.

In a Facebook statement, Shahyd mentioned that the choice was “challenging yet essential,” asserting that fans and supporters warranted an explanation for his departure.

“A basic absence of financial clarity and regular payment methods led to an unviable situation,” he stated.

“There was no progress in artistry or profession, and it became evident that mutual respect is essential, a quality that was increasingly absent.”

Shahyd expressed that the musical direction had shifted away from his style and creative identity, and he characterized the band's structure as resembling "more of a one-man show than a collaborative band effort."

He also voiced his discontent that his 25 years of musical experience were neither acknowledged nor respected while he was with the band.

Despite the difficulties, Shahyd expressed pride in the band's accomplishment at India’s Battle of the Bands International, where 2ofus secured second runner-up, marking a significant milestone in Maldivian live music history.

"I put in a tremendous amount of effort for that accomplishment, and I take pride in the recognition we received collectively," he stated.

"I wish the other members only the best in their future pursuits." Regarding myself, I progress with clarity, self-esteem, and a refreshed commitment to music that genuinely reflects my identity as an artist.

Shahyd's exit comes after the departure of former singer Mohamed Nasooh, who left the group last year without providing a public explanation.

When they won the Battle of the Bands, 2ofus consisted of five members.
